Trifle is an NSHipster project. You can use the website and play the daily quiz without an account. Trifle does not use advertising cookies or sell personal data.

Data Trifle stores.

Each quiz play has a random play token, the question date and revision, start and answer times, the selected answer, whether it was correct, and the elapsed time. Trifle does not store chat content, request bodies, names, email addresses, or IP addresses in its application database.

The “Remember my daily play across chats” option creates a random installation ID in your browser’s local storage. Your copied MCP configuration sends this ID in theX-Trifle-Installation-ID header. The ID links daily plays from that installation, but it does not identify a person by itself. Trifle stores no browser identifier unless you select this option.

Why Trifle uses the data.

Trifle uses play records to run the quiz, prevent more than one tracked play each day, show completed status across chats, and calculate aggregate service statistics. When applicable law requires a legal basis, Trifle processes a play to provide the service that you requested. It uses your consent for the optional installation ID and its legitimate interest in service security and aggregate measurement.

Storage, sharing, and retention.

Cloudflare hosts Trifle and its database. Cloudflare can process network information, such as an IP address and request headers, to deliver and protect the service under its own privacy terms. Trifle does not share application records with advertisers or data brokers.

Quiz records and optional installation records are kept without a fixed expiry so that historical results remain correct. The installation ID remains in local storage until you clear site data or turn off the option. Turning off the option removes it from your browser and future copied configurations, but it does not delete existing server records.

Your choices and rights.

You can play without the optional installation ID. You can turn off the option or clear site data at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the use of personal data. Trifle cannot connect an untracked play to you. A request about tracked records must include the installation ID so that the records can be found.

To ask a privacy question or request private contact instructions, open an issue in theTrifle repository. Do not post an installation ID or play token in a public issue.
